Writing About Reading

Write a few paragraphs about reading. How do you get into a new book when the first few pages don’t exactly capture your fascination or, quite simply, confuse you? How do you cope when that ideal reading place free of distractions isn’t available? What is your reading style? And attempt to answer the question that for some of us might be like asking why we breathe, why do you read fiction?

A lot of my favorite books have a really good hook at the beginning that captures the reader and makes them ties then into the book. When I start a book that is confusing or boring I usually try to keep reading until the end of the chapter to see if it gets any better. Usually it improves and once in a while, it really doesn't.
When I want to read, I try to find a place that is quiet and won't be very distracting. My favorite spot to read is my room because it's always quiet and relaxing. I get really distracted if I'm around my computer or cellphone when I'm trying to read so I usually turn them off so I wont be tempted to use either one. I usually read for short periods of time because I get bored of the book if I read for too long. I'm also really busy so I try and read a little bit each day rather than reading a book all at once.
I usually read because I have to rather than by choice. I like reading fiction because it takes me into a whole new world. I like being able to open up a book and instantly be involved in a different, usually more exciting, adventure or problem.
